Celebrations of November 2011

Through the years that I have been working with organizations, I have always been fascinated by the power of events and celebrations to pull people together. Since we spend our days working together and focusing on the business at hand, the work becomes our primary medium for interaction. So my team focuses on bringing out the fun moments in our lives which are not formal, serious, important, necessary, technical, and administrative.

From a team building perspective, it allows for greater interaction between people separated by functional boundaries. This interaction then gives us the opportunity to see our colleagues from a different perspective, breaking down what may have been hidden barriers to open communication.

To ease ourselves from the monotonous routine of daily work, I planned to make our birthdays special. According to the plan, Satyen,Arindam,Indra and Rajarshi’s work space was beautifully decorated so as to make them standout amidst the crowd. As a result everyone’s eye falls on that particular direction and suddenly all of them are aware of their birthdays. Then begins the stream of wishes and blessing- “Happy Birthday”, “Many many happy returns of the day”, “God bless you”, “May all your wishes come true” and obviously one blunt query-”By the way, what is age today?”. The ambiance becomes hilarious and fun-loving. I have arranged for a yummy chocolaty cake, the sight of which, will be a feast to our eyes, tongue and stomach. Furthermore, a proper lunch has been organized that leaves all of us licking our fingers and plates.

This month, in terms of celebrations, the icing on the cake was the game that was planned and executed in the Saturdays when were working. Each of them participated whole heartedly and enjoyed every bit of the moment and the game. Breathtaking ambiance last Saturday .And each of us are eagerly waiting and biting our nails for the alarming Finals tomorrow. Everyone is extremely excited about it as there are less people in this world who would not like to go back to their school days and try to re-live it.

We have also been privileged to celebrate an extremely special and auspicious occasion of birth of krish’s daughter.We tried our best to make the new parents feel special with the beginning of a brand new chapter in their lives.

Apart from all these, my primary lookout is on the month of December when we all will set out for a picnic. I along with my team, keep us too busy in planning the day-out to be a success and a memorable occasion. The spot has been decided and booked and so are the bus arrangements taken care of. We have arranged for small games and activities that will surely make everyone happy, lively and colorful. Our team have kept our fingers crossed so that this event turns out to be extremely successful and more importantly, releasing all our work pressure and involve in tremendous merry-making and fun.
